Since 2015, The Kesselhaut Family Foundation has been proud to support military families through our Military Family Support program at Camp Pendleton, California.
Earlier this year, we passed a meaningful milestone: more than 3,900 nights of lodging funded at the Department of Defense comfort home. Each one of those nights represents a family that was able to be present — to hold a hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there — during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.
Why This Program Exists
When a service member requires medical treatment at or near Camp Pendleton, the families who want to be nearby often face a painful reality: the cost of local lodging is simply out of reach. Hotels near military medical centers are expensive, and extended stays compound the financial strain on families already stretched by military life.
KFF removes that barrier entirely. We cover the full cost of stays at the DoD comfort home, ensuring the only thing that determines whether a family can be present is the desire to be there — not the size of their bank account.
